The challenge we face as young women today, especially creatives, is that there is a lot of people who are selling their integrity — in terms of the state of being whole and undivided.

Before anything else you must, find yourself, be yourself and love yourself. Knowing your true self is the tread that runs through everything. It’s the thing that allows you to see truth, to know that alone you are enough. Self is the blueprint. It’s the collective of the lessons we have learnt, the gifts we’ve been given, the way we are meant to walk through the world.

This body of work is a celebration all the women who live and work in their true self. The women who have inspired me to do the same and steer my life towards truly opening up my consciousness, deeper connection and 'coming home’. It celebrates the feminine qualities of abstraction, creativity, being cyclical.

These timeless, minimal pieces portray a refined interpretation of the female figure from a feminine perspective. Capturing its sensuality and profundity in simplicity, to reach its purest essence… revering authenticity above all.

‘SHE’
Collection

The feminine qualities of abstraction, creativity… that is true freedom. These works were a moment for me to allow myself to just be and to listen to intuition. To be kind to myself. To let my body take the time it needed to move with my art in a way I had so long denied it permission to do so. In worrying about style, medium, portfolio consistency, I was doing myself a disservice… confining the waves of creation to a small pool. Let it come…Let it be… Let it go…

“GESTURES’
Abstract Collection

I decontextualise. Then, I reconstruct. Looking past the obvious, close observation and engagement of the subject, that is my process. The challenge is to see beyond the distraction of the way we are trained to look in order to capture ones unique self. Some of my subjects are quite beautiful, others less so. My goal is to inspire those who see my work to look more carefully at the world around them, to discover beauty in unusual places.

This collection is an exploration of light and shade. The use of graphic medium, biro pen, thick black paint applied with a pallet knife forced me to look beyond what the eye recognises. Forget about the eye, the ear, the hand. Forget what I was trained to see and instead just see what is. Black and White. Can you see? … Although we are built of light and shade and black and white. Can you see how quickly this turns to grey.

It really is simple if you reconstruct the way you see.
